April 2021 Update

I hope y'all are enjoying the spring. We have been busy with the Patrick Scully films. We are applying to grants and film festivals with "Leaves of Grass: Illuminated". As most of you know this movie documents the live performance of Scully's Walt Whitman at the Guthrie. Dave Sweet has done an awesome job coloring the film. Shane Rock Nelson of Omni-Fusion Media did a bang up job creating motion graphics titles for it and he found some wonderful music for those beginning and ending sequences. Your donations paid for all these efforts! Thank you donors!

We got a good response from Patrick's call for footage and photos from the Cabaret. The Walker Art Center, David Daniels, Timothy Herwig and Rosy Simas all sent things in. I'm still reviewing the footage. Thank you, together we are making this!  If you have films or tapes from your performance, pls send them to me. We'd love to review them and also look at any show bills or photographs.

Like I said above, Leaves of Grass: Illuminated is being sent to film festivals! Please cross; fingers, legs and toes for a late summer of fall premiere.  It felt so great to get to a place where one of the films is at a submittable stage. Your donations paid for the festival submissions!

We continue to edit the biopic, "The Dance Is Not Over". I had three sessions with our editor Skip Davis in March and he is just about to make another cut. We are getting closer to having the "audio cut" finished on that film. Thanks Skip for getting both films closer to completion.

As you know, this film is 98% funded by your individual donations! We still are looking for more donations or grants for finishing funds. Your gifts last month of $602 got us a step closer to our goals. Thanks Lee, Pat, Andy, Carol & Rachel!

Can you give $21? One thousand $21 donations gets us to our goal.  This is what we have left to raise.

$4398 towards the edit of the films
$1200 for Color Correction of the 2nd film
$3,750 for original music
$6,000 for Production and Direction
$2750 for Audio mixing
$2500 for Rights & clearances
$402 for Festival costs

The 21K goal is to finish post-production. You can donate tax deductible with our fiscal sponsor Film North or to our gofundme page. Click on those highlighted links. Click here to see our funding trailer. If you've spread the word through sharing this email. I appreciate it. If you want to help in other ways pls contact me and we can talk.

Thanks for all your love and help with this project!

March 2021 Update

Thanks for your support of the Patrick Scully films!

Some Color possibilities on Leaves of Grass: Illuminated by Colorist Dave Sweet of Pixel Farm productions.
Happy spring to our supporters of the Patrick Scully films. It's so sweet to see the snow melt!
The coloring has just begun on "Leaves of Grass: Illuminated"! This film is the live performance from the Guthrie theater in the summer of 2019. Above you can see a possible look to the movie's final color tone. I am very happy to have Dave Sweet doing the color on "Leaves of Grass: Illuminated".
I want to thank Patrick for putting out a call for performance videos that were filmed at the Cabaret during his tenure. If you have films or tapes from your performance, pls send them to me. We'd love to review them and also look at any show bills or photographs. Because of this call, the Walker Art Center has contacted us about looking at some events they held at the Cabaret. That is very encouraging. This is another example of the collaborative nature of films. This film isn't just about Patrick, its also about the community around him and the Cabaret.
We are looking for possible film fests to premiere the live performance film this year. If you know of a great one, pls send me a link.
We continue to edit the biopic, "The Dance Is Not Over"  about Patrick Scully. Our editor Skip Davis has just made another cut, which I will review this week. We are getting close to having the "audio cut" finished on that film. Thanks Skip for getting both films closer to completion.

Give It To The Max 2020

Thanks to all the generous friends and supporters who gave to our project on Patrick Scully. We raised almost 3K of our 25K goal. It has been amazing to see how many of you want and support this film to be made! https://www.givemn.org/story/Bs3gcf
