October Film Update

We have a big month coming up!

We have Leaves of Grass premiering at the Twin Cities Film Fest October 23rd and a big fundraiser at The Women's Club of Minneapolis on November 4th!  It will be the World Premiere of "Leaves of Grass: Illuminated"  at the Twin Cities Film Fest. The fesitval runs October 21-30th at the Showplace Icon Theaters in St. Louis Park. There will be an in-person screening and also a virtual event for those who prefer to watch at home. Our in-person screening will be at 830pm on Saturday the 23rd. Come early to see Patrick on the red carpet.

As most of you know, this movie documents the live performance of Scully's Walt Whitman at the Guthrie theater. I am so excited and can't wait for y'all to see this performance of Patrick's on the big screen!

The other news that we are excited to share with you is,

Patrick Scully and Mark Wojahn invite you to a Filmmaker’s Evening and Fundraiser to complete the new documentary “The Dance is Not Over: The Patrick Scully Story”

Thursday, November 4 | 6:00 – 9:00 pm

The Woman’s Club of Minneapolis | 410 Oak Grove Street

Dive into an evening of performance and film, hors d’ oeuvres and drinks, dancing and red carpets to raise the final funds to complete Mark Wojahn’s film that documents the life and work of Patrick Scully.

“The Dance is Not Over: The Patrick Scully Story,” documents and celebrates the life and work of Minneapolis’ well-known Gay dancer, performance artist, storyteller, and activist. Patrick’s story chronicles the events of a generation and is critically important to document for future generations. The completed film will be available on streaming services and will be preserved at the University of Minnesota’s Tretter Collection of Patrick Scully.

All donations will be designated for the completion of this work.

Funders giving $20,000 will be credited as Executive Producers

$10,000 will be credited as Producers

$5,000 will be credited as Associate Producers

Any amount will also be listed in the credits of the film.

Our goal is to raise $65,000 to fully fund and ensure that Patrick’s story – which in many ways is all our stories – gets told.

I want to thank Lee, Margaret, Wilbur & June for the $1558 we raised in the last 30 days!

In addition to screening clips from “The Dance is Not Over: The Patrick Scully Story,” scenes from “Leaves of Grass – Illuminated,” a related Wojahn documentary of Patrick’s show at the Guthrie Theater, will also be presented. (“Leaves of Grass – Illuminated” will premiere October 23rd at the Twin Cities Film Festival.)
