Mark Wojahn presents 9 new photo paintings that explore portraits and film stills
from the silent film era.The title of the work, ‘Silver Nitrate’ refers to the fragile film
stock that was used in silent films. The film itself was very flammable and decayed
after a short time.The antique process Wojahn uses in the paint finishes is a nod or
compliment if you will,to the natural decay of the film but also how many of these
gods of their time have now faded into obscurity.
